Finding the right care service for a parent is an emotional process
Before CaredUpon launched, seniors and their loved ones had a hard time finding the right care services. This is an incredibly emotional journey when younger ones realize that they are not able to provide the right care for their loved ones, and seniors would undergo a big life change. There was a lot of anxiety on unanswered questions like:
What are my care options?
How can we fund it?
How good are these services?
How will our lives change?
In addition to, families have to work with a third party to shortlist care services that may either have long waitlists, or be in a neighborhood they were unfamiliar with. CaredUpon was positioned in a unique opportunity to help families across Canada better answer these questions.
from inception to launch
We put together a care services marketplace that helped Canadians search for the right care. With listings managed by care providers and an accessible, responsive user experience we launched with almost 8,000 providers across Canada.
Special care and attention was placed on helping seniors solve two problems: connecting with care that is appropriate for their health needs and making sure they could get feedback on how the experience was like from people that were cared for by those facilities. Unlike typical review sites, the complexities of protecting potential exposure of health information in the public domain added a layer of complexity to the product.
allowing care providers to engage with their communities
CaredUpon also allows providers to manage their listings on the site, helping them connect to their communities. We do this by allowing them to respond to a critical review, providing them information on managing their online presence and giving them access to manage the various services or amenities their customers have access to.
While the service is free to the public and free to providers, additional features (more photos, longer review responses) are available under paid plans.
better care options for canadians
With a growing senior population, the problem of connecting to the right care services will grow over time. As of this writing, under a year after launch, we have connected 10k Canadians with information that was previously unavailable or harder to access.
